With their seventh, and possibly final, studio album 'A Head Full of Dreams' coming on Friday, it's only natural that we begin to get a peek behind the covers to see what we can expect from Coldplay's latest outing. And having been told that they were featuring Beyoncé, Blue Ivy Carter, Barack Obama, and Gwyneth Paltrow amongst others on the album, it really is only right that they've given everyone the song they wanted to hear.
'Hymn for the Weekend' is Coldplay's collaboration with Beyoncé, which Annie Mac debuted last night on the BBC, also featuring an interview with Coldplay's bassist Guy Berryman who explained how the whole song came to be.
"Chris was wanting to write a sort of party song," Berryman told Annie Mac via phone. "The words were ‘Drinks on me, drinks on me.’ And we said to him, 'You can't say that. You can't get away with that.' Then the whole story of the song changed and then he asked Beyoncé to sing on it, and she very kindly said she would. And it was amazing. She came in. She did her thing. She's unbelievably professional. I think she was in and out in five minutes. And we are so blessed to sing on one of our songs."
