In a post on U2's official website U2.com, last night, Bono has revealed that it is 'not clear' whether he will ever play guitar again, following his recent injury after falling off his bike.
The rock star began the post - titled 'Bono's A to Z of 2014' (we'd like to think he got the idea from reading Entertainment.ie) - by saying "It's January 1, 8pm. I nearly didn't press go on this, and I am clearly delirious in places. It's very personal, but I feel in a not corny way that U2 has a very intimate relationship with our audience… so I'm going for it."
He goes on to say that he has written some new song lyrics during his convalescence and blames his over-indulgence in 'exercise boxing and cycling' for the accident, which led to him blacking out and ending up in hospital in New York 'with my humerus bone sticking through my leather jacket."
He also mentions his four children, who went to his childhood home on Cedarwood Road in Glasnevin to take a "piss-take band photo" for him for Christmas (below).
All appearances for the first half of 2015 have been cancelled, he reveals. U2's worldwide 'Innocence + Experience' tour starts in Vancouver on May 14th.
