The first play of Band Aid 30's version of 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' will be on this Sunday's X Factor results show - but the recording will not feature math-rock band Foals, who are now saying that they never committed to the project in the first place.
The song will be recorded on Saturday at London studio SARM and will go on sale on Monday, but NME is reporting that the Oxford band will not take part despite being named in the initial list of participants.
"With a project such as Band Aid, there are lots of conversations going on at any one point - and whoever was presented with Foals' name was inaccurately informed as conversations with the group were in their infancy," said a spokesperson. "We would have liked them to be present because they're a great band, but it wasn't logistically possible. They told us that regrettably they aren't able to participate."
Pity - we would have quite liked to see too-cool-for-school frontman Yannis Philippakis rubbing shoulders with One Direction.
