Arctic Monkeys are breaking with tradition by not releasing any new music in advance of the release of their new album.
Most artists - particularly these days - tease their album release by putting out at least one song in advance - but that won't be happening with 'Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino'.
Alex Turner told Mojo that it was guitarist Jamie Cook's idea, and their label, Domino, were "really keen on that idea. But it didn’t come from me," he clarified. "I understand it, I think.”
The good news is that there's not too much longer to wait, as the album's out on May 11th - and with their first live dates set for next week, it's inevitable that we'll hear one or two new songs then, even if they're badly-recorded on phones.
Arctic Monkeys will play Dublin's 3Arena on September 24th and 25th.
