Red Hot Chili Peppers have released the first single from their new album The Getaway.
'Dark Necessities' is the first chance fans have of listening to the end result of their collaboration with legendary producer Rick Rubin who hasn't worked with the band since 1989's Mother's Milk.
The song's not a million miles away from their usual funk/rock sound although the influence of executive producer Danger Mouse is noticeable.
It's been five years since their last album release, I'm With You and a whole decade since Stadium Arcadium which was arguably their last great album. So it'll be interesting to see how The Getaway fairs after it's released on June 17th.
