Atomic Kitten are the female version of Westlife: bland, wholesome and so overwhelmingly popular that the mere mention of their name can send a music critic into an apoplectic fit. And indeed it's easy to be appalled by the calculated cynicism that surrounds these three fairly nondescript young ladies, particularly when they top the charts with an outrageously soulless cover version of the Blondie classic 'The Tide Is High'. After listening to their second album, however, it suddenly becomes hard to work up much feeling about the band whatsoever, good, bad or indifferent. Their peculiarly watered-down brand of R'n'B is like the worst kind of fast food: uniform, tasteless, and forgotten the moment it's been consumed. Kylie Minogue's chief songwriter Rob Davis contributes a couple of songs here, while the lady herself has surprisingly deigned to write the title track - but the sad truth is that even they can't make the Kittens sound even vaguely interesting. Clocking in at a mind-numbing 15 tracks meanwhile, Feels So Good is likely to tax the patience of all but the most undiscerning of fans. Frankly, not worth hating.
