In recent years, their line-up has survived losing guitarist Malcolm Young to dementia and a bizarre court case involving drummer Phil Rudd making threats to kill - but it looks like the curtain may finally be about to fall on AC/DC's career.
In a statement on their website, the Australian band said that lead singer Brian Johnson has advised to stop touring immediately, or risk 'total hearing loss', according to doctors.
The 68-year-old Johnson has been a member of the band - which formed in 1973 - since 1980, following the death of their original frontman Bon Scott.
The post on their site was related to the 'rescheduling' of ten US dates later this month, saying that the shows "will be made up later in the year, likely with a guest vocalist. More information regarding these rescheduled shows to come" - but it's not yet known whether AC/DC will continue permanently without Johnson at the helm.
They have a number of UK and European festival dates scheduled over the summer, but it looks like he will not be on board.
