A number of high profile artists will take part in a concert to celebrate what would have been John Lennon's 75th birthday in New York next month.
Several events have already taken place to celebrate the former Beatle's landmark birthday, which was on October 9th, including an unsuccessful attempt to create the biggest human peace sign co-ordinated by his widow Yoko Ono.
Imagine: John Lennon 75th Birthday Concert will take place at Madison Square Garden on December 5th, and will feature the likes of Sheryl Crow, Brandon Flowers, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristoffersson, Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine, The Roots, Steven Tyler, Peter Frampton and more.
Yoko Ono said: “It’s beautiful to see so many wonderful and talented musicians come together for this special show to celebrate John’s birthday. John’s art continues to give hope, light and happiness to generations of people everywhere. His belief that each of us can change the world continues to inspire the human race to believe in themselves, and his influence is everlasting in everyone’s hearts as we all share in the possibilities and power of music.”
It will later be broadcast on US TV network AMC on December 19th.
[EDITED 17/11: The date of Lennon's birthday was previously incorrect.]
