We'd be lying to both you, our loyal readers, and ourselves if we were to proclaim the 1990s as a decade of outstanding musical output. True, there were some phenomenal acts in operation over that ten-year span, but let's be honest: most peoples' musical memories of some woefully cheesy numbers that are probably best forgotten.

BUT NOT TODAY! Today, we're celebrating the best musical, most danceable guilty pleasures of the decade. Why, you may ask? Well, you can blame the folks at Electric Ireland, who were responsible for more than a few earworms when they announced that at this year's Electric Picnic, they are hosting both Vengaboys and Mark McCabe to the Picnic for a #90sPowerParty. Hurrah!

The Dutch foursome will be performing hits like 'We're Going to Ibiza', 'Boom Boom Boom Boom' and more, while McCabe will be performing his megahit 'Maniac' live for the first time in 15 years. We can't wait!

In the lead-up to the Picnic, Electric Ireland is also hosting a 'Dancebomb your way to Electric Picnic' challenge, which runs all this week (August 17th – 21st) and could see you win tickets to the sold-out festival - they are giving away 3 tickets twice a day until Friday. Wondering what a dancebomb is? Well, think of it as a photobomb, but a lot more fun. This link will explain more.

There are 30 tickets to give away, so get your dancing shoes on, your glowsticks out and your bumbags strapped tightly and have a practice run with the below tracks:

1) SPICE GIRLS 'SAY YOU'LL BE THERE'

The sass! While we could easily have plumped for Wannabe or Stop – especially considering they both have their own dance routines - it's impossible to overlook this nifty little beaut in the Spice's canon.

**

2) KRISS-KROSS – '
JUMP'

The band who made wearing your clothes backwards cool – much to your mother's chagrin – this Atlanta duo's biggest hit is impossible not to shimmy along to.

**

3) VENGABOYS – 'WE LIKE TO PARTY'

Possibly the cheesiest Eurodance ask to ever walk the earth, the Dutch group had a number of massive hits during the '90s, but this is one of their most defining. The Vengabus is coming, lads – all aboard…

**

4) GINA G –
'(OOH AHH) JUST A LITTLE BIT'

Yeah, she may have represented our biggest rivals the UK in Eurovision, but it's impossible not to shake your booty to this little gem of a pop song. 'Ooh ah!'

**

5) ACE OF BASE – 'THE SIGN'

Whatever's in the water in Sweden, it's seriously conducive to super-catchy pop songs. From Abba to Robyn, the Swedes have churned out some great songs – but during the 1990s, Ace of Base ruled the roost with tunes like this nifty little number and 'All That She Wants.'

6) AQUA – 'BARBIE GIRL'

We're still scratching our heads on how on EARTH this song became such a big hit. Seriously. A song written from a toy doll's perspective? Silly voices?! Cartoon-esque band members? Probably best not to think about it too much – just dance, damn it, DANCE!

**

7) RIGHT SAID FRED – 'I'M TOO SEXY'

If there's one pop song that defines the 1990s, it's gotta be this one; just the right elements of fun and sleaze combining for something pretty hilarious. It's also perfect for a dancebomb – who could possibly resist joining in with the chorus? Strut your stuff 'on the catwalk', and get dancebombing, stat.

**

8) THE GRID - 'SWAMP THING'

Ooh, this one is strictly for the '90s purists out there. How many people remember this one? It was around the same time as Rednex had a hit with 'Cotton Eye Joe', so banjos were obviously 'in' at the time. In any case, it's a song ripe for dancebombing the unsuspected. Hitch up yer britches, and good luck!
