'Waking the Dead' is a British crime drama following the work of a police unit that investigates cold cases, usually unsolved murders that were committed many years earlier. Det Supt Peter Boyd (Trevor Eve) heads the team and he is joined by psychological profiler Dr Grace Foley (Sue Johnston), Det Sgt (later Det Insp) Spencer Jordan (Wil Johnson) and Det Con (later Det Sgt) Amelia Silver (Claire Goose). Tara Fitzgerald joined the show in series six as forensic pathologist Dr Eve Lockhart. Foley's rational countenance is in contrast to Boyd's unique style of policing. He is not above shouting and physically assaulting suspects in the interview room. Modern technology, such as DNA testing, is often used to examine previous evidence. The hugely popular series premiered on BBC One in 2000 and ran for nine series. Fitzgerald reprised her role as Dr Eve Lockhart in spin-off series 'The Body Farm', which ran for one series on BBC One in 2011.
