"Victoria Wood as Seen on TV" is a sketch show that originally aired on BBC Two in the 1980s. Victoria Wood joins forces with Julie Walters, Celia Imrie, Duncan Preston, Susie Blake and Patricia Routledge to deliver one-off sketches and regular features, such as the now legendary Acorn Antiques. The series also boasts musical performances by Wood, including her well-known number The Ballad of Barry and Frieda. Susie Blake links many of the sketches as a snobbish TV continuity announcer, and Patricia Routledge plays Kitty, a self-righteous middle-aged spinster from Cheadle who features in a weekly monologue. Acorn Antiques is a parody of low-budget soap operas that have bad acting, wobbly sets and far-fetched dialogue. "Victoria Wood as Seen on TV" ran for 13 episodes, including a Christmas special, and all its material was written by Victoria Wood.
