Simon King's Shetland Diaries

"Simon King's Shetland Diaries" is a three-part series following the wildlife cameraman and Springwatch presenter as he and his family spend a year on the Shetland Isles through the changing seasons. He captures footage of killer whales about to attack a seal, an arctic tern colony attacked by a bonxie, and a shy otter family. As he settles into a remote cottage with his wife Marguerite and two-year-old daughter Savannah, the winter weather and winds of over 100mph make life tough for them. When spring arrives, it brings with it an influx of wildlife from all over the world. King discovers starfish and moon jellyfish, and follows the struggle faced by an injured baby otter to use her back legs. In the final episode, King basks in 19 hours of sunlight, captures footage of gannets diving for fish and follows an otter family's separation as a one-year-old cub is pushed away by his mother to lead an independent life. The visit ends with a sighting of killer whales.
