'Dancing on the Edge' is a five-part drama set in the early 1930s following a black jazz band in London. In the opening edition, music journalist Stanley Mitchell (Matthew Goode) takes a gamble by signing band leader Louis Lester (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and his group to play at the Imperial Hotel in front of a mainly elderly audience who have never seen black musicians before. While many people in the audience walk out in outrage, the band impresses a group of socialites and are invited to play at a private party attended by Prince George (John Hopkins). Trouble looms when the band are loudly awoken one night by the police and threatened with deportation. The cast also features John Goodman, Angel Coulby and Wunmi Mosaku. Created by writer-director Stephen Poliakoff, it premiered on BBC Two in February 2013.
