If you were one of the legions of viewers won over by Zoe Ball's natural presenting style last Saturday (Twitter at large was very pleased with her efforts), you'll be mildly comforted by the news that she's due to appear on your screens again this weekend. In some horrific news, however, Claudia Winkleman's daughter was in fact hospitalised last Friday.
Viewers were initially informed that Winkleman's daughter was "unwell." The BBC have since released the following statement: "Zoe Ball will co-host Strictly Come Dancing this weekend. All our thoughts and very best wishes are with Claudia and her family at this time."
Claudia, meanwhile, released the following: "Our daughter was involved in an accident on Friday night while celebrating Halloween. She is having the best care possible and we are hopeful of a full recovery. We would like to thank everyone that has been so supportive and particularly the NHS doctors, nurses and staff who have been absolutely incredible. We would like to take this opportunity to remind anyone taking part in fireworks parties or Guy Fawkes celebrations to be vigilant about the dangers of candles, open fires and fireworks and to be please have the appropriate safety measures in place and to hand."
According to Digital Spy, "the child's injuries were sustained when her Halloween costume came into contact with the flame of a pumpkin candle."
Our thoughts are with 8-year-old Matilda.
