With a new season of the hit HBO show still in development, the star and executive producer has voiced what direction she'd love to see the series take going forward.
'Euphoria' season three might have a very different vibe if the main star's vision comes true. Zendaya, who plays drug-addict teen Rue in the series, has said she'd be interested in seeing what the teenagers get up to once they're out of the safety net that is high school, and out in the real world.
But if you've seen the series, you'll know that the characters' high school life is anything but safe. So, what fresh hell could come out of them all being young adults in an ever-changing world?
Here's what Zendaya had to say: "I think it’ll be exciting to explore the characters out of high school. I want to see what Rue looks like in her sobriety journey, how chaotic that might look.
"But also with all the characters, in the sense where they’re trying to figure out what to do with their lives when high school is over and what kind of people they want to be."
Season two of the HBO show was able to bring secondary characters to the forefront of the storyline, such as Maude Apatow's Lexi and Angus Cloud's Fezco, both of which were integral to the season final showdown which featured a high school musical gone wrong and a raid on Fezco's house.
Zendaya said that going into 'Euphoria' season three, this delving deep within the troubled characters can happen once again because of the huge talent on screen: "What was special about this season was that we got to dive into [the other characters] in a much deeper sense. I think we can do that again with the third season. There’s so much talent, you want to make sure everybody has the chance to have that."
Syndey Sweeney was a stand-out from season two, as Lexi's sister Cassie struggled with being part of (a secretive) love triangle between her best friend Maddy (played by Alexa Demie) and rage-filled jock Nate (Jacob Elordi). The actor has been nominated for two Outstanding Supporting Actress Emmys for her roles in 'Euphoria' season two and in 'The White Lotus' season one as silver-spooned Olivia.
The entire cast of 'Euphoria' has been nominated for an Emmy Award, while Zendaya is also up for Outstanding Lead Actress in the series. The awards ceremony will take place this September.
