There's been plenty of real-life drama surrounding the latest season of Love/Hate and now one of the show's stars has found himself in a bit of hot water for acting out his real-life role on screen.

You might remember the undercover Garda who was involved in a drug sting during the opening scenes of Sunday night's episode? Well it turns out Garda Ciarán Madden (the fella driving the car in the scene below) is in fact real-life Garda Kieran O'Reilly, who just so happens to be a serving member of the Garda National Drug Unit in Dublin Castle. You can thank the Irish Independent for that little nugget of information.

As per this morning's Indo, O'Reilly is now in a little bit of hot water with Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan, who has ordered an internal inquiry into his involvement with the show.

The Garda/actor technically didn't do anything wrong: It turns out that acting is an acceptable 'extra-curricular activity' for the Irish police force. Who knew? However, there seems to be a bit of confusion about when he actually filmed his scenes. It's reported that O'Reilly was actually on official leave when filming took place.

The show's producers have been eager to stress that the real-life Garda certainly didn't inspire any of the new season's storylines, and said they were rather shocked to hear that he would be the subject of an inquiry.

And we though Love/Hate Cat was making waves. Someone get the man an "Oh Jaysus handle", quick sharp.
