Darren? Could it be? Do my mine eyes deceive me? Nope, apparently not boys and girls, for that is indeed Robert Sheehan and his beautiful blue hoodie on the set of Love/Hate Season 4 you see before you!
We aren't sure exactly he was doing on set, y'know, given the fact that he was pretty definitively shot in the head and bleeding to death on the ground last time we saw him, and the official sources over at RTE say they won't be commenting because they don't want to ruin the storyline for the fans. Fair enough!
We're gonna call this one and say it must be a dream sequence. Surely? Saying that, you never know with Love/Hate now do you? Perhaps we return to find Nidge taking a shower, only to realise Season 3 was all a figment of his imagination... Well, we can dream, eh? Oh Darren.
Thoughts? Conspiracy theories? They're all welcome. Here are ours!
Why Robert Sheehan was out filming Love/Hate:
Theory 1: Darren was never shot at all. It was all a figment of Nidge's paranoid imagination and Robert Sheehan was very good at lying to the press about the whole thing. Sure he's an actor, they're paid to convince people!
Theory 2: Darren survived. Yep, that big blue hoodie had a cleverly concealed bulletproof hood inside, sure that's why he wore it all the time! Either that or a crust of impenetrable hair gel had built up inside it over the course of the last few episodes. Stranger things have happened lads, sure he never took it off... But anyway, there just so happened to be a few spare sachets of tomato ketchup in there too. Sure isn't that what mammy always used to tell us? "Oh he's not dead at all, sure it's just tomato sauce!"
Theory 3: Darren is dead. We're going to say that this is probably the most likely turn of events, given the fact that Robert Sheehan is off to the big leagues with Phil Collins' young wan and Jamie Campbell Bower for Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. If you haven't read it yet, it's like a funnier, smarter Twilight. (I've torn through the book series like a 14 year old fangirl, I should know). We're going to say that it's most likely he's there to film flashbacks, a funeral and some sort of dream sequence.*sob* Sure aren't Nidge and Trish looking as though they're dressed for an important occasion?
And to think, he was such a big part of why we love Love/Hate. At least Tommy, aka Killian Scott has been spotted with his face restored to its former glory...
