Get ready for a long, hot sizzling summer of superb television: Sky Atlantic's just spilled the beans on the return of Aaron Sorkin's The Newsroom, Don Cheadle starrer House of Lies, and Debra Messing lead musical drama Smash.
Jeff Daniels and Emily Mortimer are back in action from August, as the News Night broadcast team return to cover the US Presidential Election. We're just hoping that Maggie gets her head together and elopes with Jim (These two are fast becoming our next Tim and Dawn). And was it just us, or did Neal and Sloan emerge as one of those pairings that you could kind of see happening? Anyway, as long as there's as much Leona versus Charlie banter as there was last season we'll be more than happy.
Last time we saw Don Cheadle he was suiting up alongside Robert Downey Jr in Iron Man 3, but this summer he'll be back to front House of Lies Season 2. For those of you who aren't familiar with the Showtime series, it follows a group of management consultants who stop at nothing to get business deals done, even if it calls for extremes. And if you can't wait until August to catch the show, you can see it on Sky On Demand from June 3rd.
Finally, Smash (aka Glee for grown-ups) returns to TV screens this side of the Atlantic from July. We still can't get used to seeing Jack Davenport (he of Pirates of the Carribbean fame) wearing 21st Century garb. And if you haven't watched the show before then you're in luck, because Sky will have all of Season 1 On Demand from June.
So, if we end up with another summer of non-stop rain, you won't be too disappointed eh?
