It's the second biggest weather sensation sweeping the nation, and now SyFy has confirmed that we most definitely have not seen the last of Sharknado.
The network is planning to make a second truly awful yet utterly captivating piece of viewing, after the first offering created Snakes on a Plane style hype across the globe. For those of you who aren't familiar with the made for TV movie, Sharknado tells the tale of hurricane (how misleading) that swamps Los Angeles, bringing a whole host of killer sharks with it. Tara Reid and Ian Ziering (that's Steve from Beverly Hills 90210 to you and I) lead the cast.
"Every once in a while, there is a perfect storm - on television. The fans are clamouring for a sequel. Or perhaps it will be a prequel" Syfy executive Thomas Vitale said. "What we can guarantee is that Sharknado 2 will be lots of fun. We'll be announcing more details very soon. But we didn't want our fans to worry they wouldn't get their fill of more shark fin, I mean, fun next year."It's understood that the film will move to the East Coast, wreaking havoc on a whole new population.
Until then, fans have been invited to suggest names for the film on SyFy's official twitter account. Here are just a few of our favourites, courtesy of theultradork.
And may we just say, Tony frickin Danza would show em who's the boss...
