Another new exciting TV series is on the way in September and from the man behind The Wire, David Simon, no less. The eight-episode series, called The Deuce, will premiere on HBO (Sky Atlantic here) and stars James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
Set in 1970s New York, it follows the legalisation and subsequent rise of the porn industry as well as the violence of the drug epidemic and the increasing number of HIV cases.
Following in the footsteps of Ewan McGregor in the most recent series of Fargo, James Franco will be playing two characters - twin brothers Vincent and Frankie Martino - who become fronts for the mob in the city.
Gyllenhaal plays Eileen 'Candy' Merrell, a Times Square sex worker with an entrepreneurial spirit who is drawn into the emerging pornography industry.
David Simon collaborated with George Pelecanos once more for this series, who he also worked alongside on The Wire and Treme.
Gyllenhaal will co-produce while Simon, Franco, Pelecanos and Nina K. Noble executive produce.
