The show may be struggling to hold on to its formerly loyal fan base but that doesn't mean the folks over at The Simpsons aren't pulling out all the stops to keep them on board by producing some pretty cool couch gags.

Earlier this year we saw Guillermo del Toro producing this Treehouse of Horror gem, and now we've been handed this musical marvel that's definitely very different from the run of the mill couch gags we're accustomed to. It seems the townsfolk of Springfield will be paying tribute to the music-themed animated shorts of the 1930s this weekend in the USA, so they've sent the whole lot of 'em to MusicVille.

If you watch closely you'll notice that Edna Krabappel still features, despite the passing of legendary TV actress Marcia Wallace earlier this year.

Will these nifty couch gags and themed episodes do enough to keep the show going for another few years? Who knows. It'll certainly have us tapping our toes for the rest of the day anyway
