In a year that's seen the likes of 'House of Cards' and 'Orange is the New Black' emerge from the streaming service Netflix, safe to say hopes our high for this upcoming offering which is a sweeping big-budget production drama series chronicling the life of Marco Polo.
It follows the explorer's little-known beginnings whose life of adventure began as a ward of the powerful 13th century Mongol emperor Kublai Khan.
John Fusco, who wrote the Academy-Award nominated feature 'Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron', created the series and is executive producer and showrunner along with Dan Minahan, whose previous work includes Homeland and Game of Thrones.
Academy-Award nominated directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) directed the first two hours and serve as executive producers. Marco Polo is produced by Netflix and The Weinstein Company.
