The attack on a church in South Carolina that claimed the lives of nine people was the main story making headlines in the US yesterday, and Jon Stewart couldn't find any humour in the situation.
However, Stewart has always been skilled at turning off the comedy and switching to a more serious tone when the mood calls for it, so last night he decided to take a step back and look at the tragedy in wider terms.
Clearly emotional, Stewart spoke of the continuing racial problems that have been coming to the fore again and again, in particular in recent years in America, and how it seems that people are content to continue to do "jacksh*t" about it.
