It's only two months away from our screens, but we can already tell that Marvel's Luke Cage is going to be huge.
The latest in Netflix's fantastic run of adapting lesser-known Marvel characters sees the Hero For Hire, Luke Cage, brought to life by Mike Colter.
Yes, you've already seen Luke Cage in Jessica Jones, but this is his first series out on his own and, by all accounts, it's going to be another winner. Yesterday, at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel / Netflix unleashed a few new trailers (don't worry, we're going to cover them all) and one of them included this.
Take a look.
Yes, that is 'Ol Dirty Bastard's Shimmy Shimmy Ya playing. Yes, that's Chief Burrell from The Wire or character actor Frankie Faison. In fact, there'll most likely be a few nods and winks to The Wire as showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker confirmed that Luke Cage will be The Wire of Marvel television. You also saw Mahershala Ali, better known as Remy Danton from House of Cards, as the arch-villain Cottonmouth. You've also got Theo Rossi, who played Juice in Sons Of Anarchy, and Rosario Dawson returning as Nurse Temple in there too.
So, as you can imagine, this is all very, very exciting to us and it should be to you as well. Luke Cage hits Netflix everywhere - including Ireland - from September 30th.
