One thing that SNL has always done well in its forty-year run is political comedy and last night was undoubtedly one of its best sketches.
As we know, Seinfeld creator and Curb Your Enthusiasm star Larry David pretty much had Bernie Sanders down pat, but their Donald Trump - previously played by Darrell Hammond - was a little bit wanting.
That's all changed, however, as Alec Baldwin has now signed up to play Donald Trump and last night's debut was nothing short of spectacular. It's not just that Baldwin's got his physical mannerisms down and holding that gurn for close to ten minutes would give anyone a cramp, it's also because the script worked so perfectly with the bin fire that was the US Presidential Debate.
Take a look.
Needless to say, we think it's pretty clear that Baldwin nailed it and the chemistry between him and the always reliable McKinnon just works. Settle in for a season of excellent Trump / Clinton sketches.
What did you think? Did he nail it? Was Johnny Depp's impression better? Let us know in the comments!
