"This is the true story of a woman who loses -- and then finds -- her sh*t."
Not to be confused with the 2002 hitmaker Niomi Arleen McLean-Daley, Netflix's 'Lady Dynamite' stars actress/comedian Maria Bamford and is a loosely based story of her experiences in Hollywood while living with bipolar disorder.
Eagle-eyed 'Arrested Development' fans will recognise Bamford from the show's Netflix season as Tobias Funke's sort-of love interest but Bamford's career has spanned so many shows you'll definitely recognise her from somewhere.
Per Netflix:
"Lady Dynamite is a 12-episode half-hour comedy from Mitch Hurwitz (Arrested Development) and Pam Brady (South Park) starring comedian-actress Maria Bamford. Based on what she has accepted to be “her life,” the semi-autobiographical, semi-surreal series is a truthful look at the highs and lows of Bamford’s life -- as an actor on the rise, during her hospitalization for bipolar disorder, and through her present life in LA, where she’s reached a middle ground and found love."
Full of other familiar comedy faces such as Fred Melamed and Ana Gasteyerm, 'Lady Dynamite' is released on Netflix on May 20th.
