One of the acts on Britain’s Got Talent’s first live semi-final, which aired last night, left fans properly shook.
The act involved escape artist Matt Johnson having his head trapped in a box filled with water. Matt had to pick multiple locks in order to free himself.
A voiceover at the start of the act said that if he didn't free himself within 1 minute 45 seconds then he'd be in trouble. He didn't free himself until 2 minutes 20 seconds in, with paramedics having to walk on stage to check up on him afterwards.
While Matt earned praise from the judges, with Amanda Holden, who had stood up during the act out of fright, particularly impressed, viewers were unhappy, calling the act ‘stupid’, ‘dangerous’ and ‘terrifying.’
How does this deserve a round of applause? Risking your life for entertainment is not brave its fucking stupid. #BGT

I hate this act. It literally promotes doing stupid dangerous stuff to be famous. Part of me actually always wants something to go wrong so that other people do not get involved in this activity. #BGT

I cannot stand acts on BGT that purposefully put their life in danger because it’s fucking stupid, you shouldn’t be doing this shit just entertain an audience 🙄 #BGT
