We usually sit in the camp that most reboots of much-loved TV shows are wholly unnecessary, but Dawson's Creek creator Kevin Williamson has described a possible revival series of the hit show that we would watch the sh*t out of.
The clip below is from Entertainment Weekly's recent mammoth 20th anniversary reunion special featuring interviews with the cast and Williamson (except poor Gail and Mitch) and while they have all shut down a possible return to the show (Jen is dead, after all), Williamson has clearly been thinking about it.
Asked where they would all be now in a hypothetical revival series, he said that we would find Dawson a broken man, that all his dreams had come true but "they shattered, I think he fell apart, I think he never really found love".
So far, so grim but... he adds: "We come upon him as he’s just on the cusp of changing his whole life and finding the one thing that’s going to make him magical".
As for Pacey and Joey, well it's not good news at first for that pair either. They did get married and have kids but the couple had "troubles" and got divorced. Say it isn't so!
However, Wiliamson added that while we find them in "a very, very dark place, there’s still something between them that forces them to come together and raise their children and as they seek out happiness with others they just keep coming back to each other."
Ultimately, he says, we would watch them "fall in love all over again".
Yep. Stop crying!
Somebody make Dawson's Creek 2.0 happen already.
