RTE2 today announced what's on the way for their autumn schedule and it's undoubtedly one of their most impressive lineups yet with 30 new series and 18 documentaries on the agenda. with the emphasis very much on comedy.
Ireland's favourite '80s mammy and daddy Bridget and Eamon have landed their own which is a great call considering how popular the Jennifer Maguire and Bernard O'Shea sketch is on Republic of Telly.
Baz Ashmawy, who you can currently see on the second season of 50 Ways to Kill Your Mammy, has also landed a new show called Baz: The Lost Muslim where he explores his Muslim heritage and considers how the culture and faith can co-exist with his own very Irish identity.
The Voice of Ireland mentor Bressie will present a new series called Bressie’s Ironmind to prove that good physical health is great for the mind. He enlists the help of experts in training four ordinary people to go from the couch to competing in a gruelling half-Ironman challenge.
2FM DJ and columnist Louise McSharry shares her very personal story of battling cancer while in the midst of preparations for her upcoming wedding in F**k Cancer.
RTE2 have also just announced the arrival of an Irish version of the hit Channel 4 series, First Dates, while Vogue Williams, Maia Dunphy and Angela Scanlon will be also be returning to each host a documentary series.
Hardy Bucks are back for another season of hijinks and banter... Mayo schtyle, while Rubberbandits will have a new series called The Rubberbandits’ Guide to 1916 as Limerick’s finest rapping comedians give us a crash course in Irish history from Brian Boru, through the Famine right up to Irish independence.
Second Captains soon kicks off for another series too while international shows like Homeland and Vikings are also returning.
