It was 'The Great British Bake Off's first ever Vegan Week last night, and it proved challenging for some more than others. Ruby looked like she had it all sewn up with her showstopper - a two layer lemon, chocolate and coconut cake, however disaster soon struck as Ruby had to watch from outside the tent as her cake toppled over.
Naturally we were all devastated for her but some viewers were a bit confused about the whole set up. Like why Ruby happened to be outside with Sandi and Noel at the time and how the camera managed to get the perfect angle to watch the cake fall.
It’s a cruel, cruel world. Poor Ruby. #GBBO pic.twitter.com/giBpHPFxkj

Can we talk about that weird Bake Off scene for a second?
We never see them after a challenge has ended, we only see them during the judging. Why were they all watching outside? Do cameras normally keep running? Why was Ruby with Noel and Sandi? This feels quite weird. #GBBO pic.twitter.com/KjLi6vEyHr

Noo Ruby! Do they normally leave the tent? Very convenient /excellent camera shot with the bakers in the background #GBBO

That falling cake scene felt very staged! When have the cameras ever filmed the bakers leaving the tent & followed them in to the field? #GBBO pic.twitter.com/81LjacYmjo

Others were less sceptical...
They must’ve kept cameras rolling suspecting her cake was gonna fall Sandi and Noel were with her because she was upset, just because cameras aren’t on them doesn’t mean they can’t show emotions towards the contestants lmao

Very true. The cake looked like it wasn’t going to last more than a few minutes. https://t.co/6wMrq7RRLc

may be they always keep cameras rolling but there's nothing worth showing. since Ian binned his baked Alaska they'd be stupid to turn cameras off #gbbo

Isn’t that when they film the cakes in close up and also clean the workstations etc? 🤷ðŸÂÂÂ?»â™‚ï¸ÂÂÂ?

However, a few previous Bakers soon stepped in to clear things up...
Oh no we do see them sometimes in the background because that’s where they go and wait while the tent is being cleaned!

We would all go and sit and chill on those seats outside after every challenge 🙂

Yes normal place to hang out straight after challenges

It was all grand for Ruby too in case you missed it, as despite the presentation, the judges loved the taste of her cake and it was poor Jon who was sent home.
