Two alums from the RTÉ crime drama will be re-entering the world of gangsters, albeit in a more periodic setting.
According to Deadline, Irish actors Aidan Gillen and Charlie Murphy are joining season 4 of Peaky Blinders.
The two are best-known for respectively playing gang leader (that is until Nidge assassinated him) John Boy and Nidge’s niece Siobhan in Love/Hate.
The new season began shooting in Liverpool last week. There’s no word yet on Gillen and Murphy’s exact roles in the drama.
Fans of Peaky Blinders will also be pleased to hear that Charlotte Riley is also set to return as May Carleton, the champion horse trainer and former lover of Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby. Adrien Brody is another addition to the cast while Tom Hardy will also be back.
The logline for Season 4 reads: “When he receives a mysterious letter on Christmas Eve, Thomas Shelby realises that the Peaky Blinders are in danger of annihilation. As the enemy closes in, Shelby flees his country house and returns to the streets of Small Heath, Birmingham where a desperate fight for survival begins.”
