TV presenter, comedian and iconic personality Paul O'Grady has died at the age of 67, his husband announced this morning.
Andre Portasio said in a statement that O'Grady died "unexpectedly but peacefully" on Tuesday evening.
The full statement reads: "It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening."
"We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion.
"I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years."
O'Grady began his career performing as his drag alter ego Lily Savage in the 1970s, rising to fame in the '90s as host of 'Blankety Blank' and then moving on to host 'The Paul O'Grady Show' on ITV and Channel 4 in the 2000s, as well as many other TV shows.
O'Grady leaves behind husband Andre, his daughter Sharon, who he had with close friend Diane Jansen in 1974, as well as two grandchildren.
