If you were one of the millions glued to the first UK series of 'The Traitors' before Christmas, there's good news.
The Claudia Winkelman-hosted reality show saw a group of strangers pitted against each other for a cash prize. The majority are 'Faithfuls' but several are 'Traitors', who can secretly 'murder' their fellow contestants. The Faithfuls must weed out the Traitors and banish them in order to survive.
It was hugely successful, being streamed on the BBC's iPlayer over 28 million times, and has already been deemed one of the greatest reality series ever by some critics.
However, with Series 1 only recently airing, fans were expecting a long wait for the next installment.
The good news is that that's not the case: the US version - which is set in the same Scottish castle - has just been acquired by the BBC.
The 10-episode US version is hosted by actor Alan Cumming and will be available on iPlayer (boo!) from tomorrow, but will also be broadcast on BBC Three and BBC One. It will run on BBC One as double-bills on Wednesday nights at 10.40pm for 5 weeks from January 25th, and on BBC Three across three weeks:
- Tues 24 Jan, Weds 25 Jan and Thurs 26 Jan
- Mon 30 Jan, Tues 31 Jan, Weds 1 Feb and Thurs 2nd Feb
- Mon 6 Feb, Tues 7 Feb and Weds 8 Feb
Make sure you set your TV to record this series, as we all know that those of us in the Republic don't have access to the BBC iPlayer (shakes fist).
There is also a Dutch version (broadcast in 2021) and an Australian version (broadcast in 2022) of 'The Traitors', too - so there's lots more potential for treachery and backstabbing, too.
