Since the news that Jeremy Clarkson's contract has not been renewed by the BBC following that 'fracas', his fellow co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May have remained loyal to Clarkson insisting they were all in it together. However will the tempting offer of one million a year pique their interest?

That's the amount the pair have reported to have been offered by the BBC to return, which if they accepted, would make them among the corporation's highest earners.

The news comes amid reports that the BBC won't be replacing Jeremy Clarkson with one host but rather multiple hosts, similar to what they did with Have I Got News For You when Angus Deayton left.

So far the BBC haven't commented but bookmakers have slashed odds on the pair returning. William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said: "Just a week ago we were offering 5-1 for them to return for another series of 'Top Gear' but following news of the sums that have been offered to the pair, we have slashed the odds to 5-4."

Will they leave Clarkson to fend for himself? It could possibly work out as the best plan for all of them, we'll just have to watch this space.
