Apparently the CNN chat show host had the gall to question their gun laws. That and he called Gun Owners of America executive director Larry Pratt an "unbelievably stupid man" during an interview he hosted after the December 14th massacre at Sandy Hook elementary school.
A petition has been posted on the White House website to get him to leave the country, and it has since been signed by over 35,000 disgruntled gun toters, "surpassing the 25,000 required to get a response from the White House."
During the debate Piers had with Pratt on Tuesday last, he said: "You're an unbelievably stupid man, aren't you? You have absolutely no coherent argument. You don't actually give a damn about the gun murder rate in America."
According to SKY News, following the interview, a journalist (from Texas), posted the petition to the White House website stating that Morgan "is engaged in a hostile attack against the US Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment. We demand that Mr Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens."
The Bill of Rights were adopted by the House of Representatives in 1789 so could be perceived as slightly antiquated in 2013; everybody had a right to bear arms back then as that's how they caught their dinner.
Referring to his right to free speech, Morgan posted on Twitter: "Ironic US gun rights campaign to deport me for 'attacking Second Amendment rights' - is my opinion not protected under 1st Amendment rights?"
