Oh. My. Love. We've seen plenty of films adapted for the small screen but now TV bosses in the US of A are considering rebooting Ghost. Because the Broadway stage show apparently just wasn't enough for 'em...
As per Variety, Paramount Television has teamed up with Fringe's Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinkner to put together a pilot based on the film, which you'll all remember starred the late, great Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. Now, we're all for a bit of decent telly and, as Sci-Fi shows go, Fringe actually isn't half bad at all, but we're got some serious beef with the idea that you can turn Ghost into the televisual equivalent of, oh, I don't know, The Vampire Diaries?
That said, you could probably get a fair bit of mileage out of a plotline which sees a murdered man trying to solve the mystery of his own death from beyond the grave, while also serving as his former missus' guardian.
And sure they might even get a whole pottery range out of it, wha? Talk about your marvellous merchandising opportunities... And then there's the career revival opportunity for one Gareth Gates. Unchained Melody could make quite the theme tune, don'cha think?
