Ireland's own Graham Norton was in flying form as he hosted tonight's TV BAFTAs, a ceremony which was frequented by none other than Doctor Who's most infamous foes. Yes, the daleks and the 'slebs were out in force on the red carpet, where the atmosphere wasn't dampened in the slightest by the weather. Oh, and speaking of Graham, he flew the flag for Ireland, scooping the gong for Best Entertainment Programme with The Graham Norton Show.
After a rather tame opening monologue from Mr Norton (the last few jibes more than made up for it though) it was time to get down to business. Last Tango in Halifax was the first winner of the night, scooping the award for Best Drama Series. It was also quite the evening for the cast of Made In Chelsea, who followed in the footsteps of The Only Way Is Essex (the controversial Peoples' Choice winner of years gone by), picking up the TV BAFTA for Reality and Constructed Factual Programme. That's actually a category: We've seen it all now...
Getting back to the err, real talent, Olivia Colman showed the world how to do telly this year, picking up not one, but two BAFTAs for her hard work. The actress nabbed the gong for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama, and Best Female Performance in a Comedy Series. Considering she stole the show in Broadchurch earlier this year, we're not at all surprised. Meanwhile, Ben Whishaw walked away with the gong for Best Male Performance in a Drama, nabbing the nod for his performance in Richard II (The Hollow Crown), while Sheridan Smith confirmed she'd well and truly arrived when she won the female equivalent for Mrs Biggs.
Other winners on the night included Clare Balding who picked up a Special Award for her turn at London 2012, and the incredible Michael Palin who was awarded the BAFTA Fellowship. Lena Dunham continued her world domination, picking up the TV BAFTA for Best International programme for Girls, and when it came to the really important one, the Radio Times Audience Award (voted for by the viewers themselves), Game of Thrones romped home with the prize.
