Although there are only vague notions of when Disney+ will launch in Ireland (we're hearing sometime between this month and March 2020), the US will get to experience the first live-action 'Star Wars' TV series before anywhere else.
'The Mandalorian' picks up just a few short years after the events of 'Return of the Jedi' and focuses in on a nameless bounty hunter (Pedro Pascal) who gets caught up with a violent gangster (Werner Herzog) who may or may not be connected with the remnants of the Galactic Empire. The series, as mentioned, is the first time a live-action TV series has been mounted in the 'Star Wars' universe, so expectations are pretty high.
Not only that, Disney are spending 'Game of Thrones' levels of money on it - a reported $15 million per episode - so it's at least going to look good. The cast will include Gina Carano, Bill Burr, Carl Weathers, Taika Waititi (he also directed an episode), Werner Herzog and probably a cameo or two in there as well. Jon Favreau, who's acting as executive producer, has confirmed that they're already working on Season 2, so odds are Disney must be pleased with what they've seen so far.
