It's been a while since we last saw Kevin James on d'telly so King of Queens fans may or may not be delighted to hear that the actor has just signed a new sitcom deal.
James, who played good old Doug Heffernan on the immensely popular CBS sitcom between 1998 and 2007, will star in and executive produce a brand new multi-camera comedy for Lionsgate TV in the not too distant future.
Now, we'd like to say we're 100 per cent excited to see what they'll come up with, but given the fact that this fella has been involved with Adam Sandler's Grown Ups and a few other questionable comedy ventures of late, we're a wee bit skeptical about his err. choices. We'll give him the benefit of the doubt though, for now at least.
As per Deadline, there's no concept confirmed for the series just yet, so who knows what direction it could head off in. James has got some pretty big friends in the business, thanks to his days on Everybody Loves Raymond, so we're sure he won't be short of potential guest stars.
It's been an interesting year for new sitcom pilots in the States, with a fair few big names (Robin Williams, Michael J Fox, Seth Green, Giovanni Ribisi and Andy Samberg to name but a few) getting in on the action. That said, they haven't all gone down too well with the TV critics, so Kevin had best get a decent bunch of writers behind him if he wants to survive...
