*All together now* Now, this is a story all about how my life got flipped-turned upside down...
Ahead of the TV series 30th anniversary next year, 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' reunion will be taking place on HBO Max for fans yearning for a revisit to the '90s staple. Expect a look back at how big of an impact the series had on popular culture at the time, as well as the passing of Uncle Phil actor James Avery in 2013, to be discussed.
Fans will be delighted to hear that Will Smith, Alfonso Ribeiro, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid, Tatyana Ali, and DJ Jazzy Jeff will all be coming back together for a sit down about the legendary comedy, which ran for six seasons and 148 episodes. HBO Max has promised "a funny and heartfelt night full of music, dancing, and special surprise guests, in honour of the series."
Back in April the cast reunited over Zoom, which no doubt sparked interest in this pre-recorded TV special. It is currently scheduled to begin filming on September 10, and the concept has been developed by Will and Jada Pinkett Smith's media company Westbrook Media.
'Fresh Prince' was in the spotlight recently following news that Will Smith will be heading up a drama reboot of the iconic sitcom.
'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' reunion special is believed to be along the same lines as the delayed 'Friends' reunion episode that is also taking place for HBO Max later this year. Jennifer Anniston, Courtney Cox, Lida Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer have all been lined up for the special which is due to shoot this September. The cast was originally due to record the episode earlier this year, but it was pushed back until a later date for safety reasons.
Ahead of the special, here's the Carlton Dance being performed by Alberto Ribeiro, which we hope will be once again making an appearance (after Graham Norton's very fine effort a few years ago).
