Although the first trailers and teasers might be a little hard to decipher, there's definitely something unique about Legion - FX's latest collaboration with Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley.
Set in the world of X-Men (but not in the film's continuity - it's weird), it follows a young man who has been treated in a mental institution for years, but may in fact actually be one of the most powerful mutants who has ever lived. Dan Stevens plays the titular character, the word coming from the fact that he has multiple personality disorder, and is receiving high praise from US critics.
Uproxx called Legion "easily the most exciting new series this young year in TV has offered so far," whilst Collider called the show "Awards Material". Meanwhile, industry bibles Variety and THR called Stevens' performance as "the glue that keeps Legion from flying apart" and said that the "first three episodes of Legion — in all their cracked visual glory — were enough to want the rest of the season immediately."
Legion hits US screens on February 8th, with a release date for this side of the world expected in the coming weeks.
