Despite rumours doing the rounds, it looks like Alf Stewart isn't done yet with his time in 'Home & Away'.
Reports circulated earlier this week which seemed to suggest that Ray Meagher, who's played Alf on the Australian soap for nearly 30 years, was getting ready to retire the role once and for all. An interview with Australian magazine New Idea made it appear as though Meagher was chucking it in at Summer Bay, but this no longer seems the case.
In an interview with The Colum McGrath Breakfast Show on Clare FM, Lynne McGranger - who plays Irene Roberts - said that the rumours weren't true at all, and that Meagher was gone on tour with the tenth anniversary of 'Priscilla Queen Of The Desert'.
"To my knowledge, he will be back in seven weeks' time. Now, unless I'm in the dark about it, which I don't think I am because I saw him yesterday on set and I was talking to him and I'm sure he would have told me - he's not retiring at all."
"He's just gone off to do a show for seven weeks and then he's back," confirmed McGranger. Bloody 'eck, ay?
