Well this is one we would never have guessed.
The Star Trek clip featuring Data playing poker with Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton and Stephen Hawking has been doing the rounds this week following the professor's death on Wednesday, and someone on Reddit figured out that the actor who played Einstein was none other than Bishop Brennan himself, Jim Norton.
In fact he played the role twice on the show, both in that episode ('Descent') in 1993 and in another episode called The Nth Degree in 1991.
80-year-old Dublin native Jim Norton has also shown up in Frasier, Lovejoy, and even Cheers over the course of his career, along with countless more credits. He also has a role in the upcoming Mary Poppins Returns as Mr Binnacle and previously won a Tony Award in 2008 for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his performance in The Seafarer - an award where those he was up against included Bobby Cannavale (Boardwalk Empire, Will & Grace, Vinyl), and his co-star in the play, Conleth Hill (aka Varys in Game of Thrones).
What a career, 'ey? Maybe he didn't deserve that kick up the arse after all.
