The Great British Bake Off has wrapped for another year, with the final episode seeing the three all-female contestants baking a Picnic Pie, a pretzel challenge and finally a wedding cake showstopper.

But who won? That'll be Frances Quinn who pipped Ruby, who was the favourite, and the smug Kimberley to the title.

The 31-year-old winner said of her victory: "I'm over the moon. I don' think I'm going to realise exactly what's hit me for two days, but right now I feel on cloud nine."

Judge Paul Hollywood was adamant that Quinn was the deserving victor, saying: "Frances is a deserved winner. When it came to the showstopper, she beat the other to guys hands down. She not only gave us the style, but the substance too."

Mary Berry echoed Hollywood, saying: "Frances has many qualities, she has attention to detail, she's got excellent flavours. Her baking improved as each week went by. We're very proud of her."

Meanwhile, it has also been announced that The Great British Bake Off will switch from BBC Two to BBC One for its fifth series in 2014.
