The creators of the show are here to kill your dreams so the cast don't have to.
Talking to the Hollywood Reporter ahead of receiving their WGA's Paddy Chayefsky Laurel Award at L.A.'s Writers Guild Awards, Marta Kauffmann and David Crane addressed the never-ending rumours of a reunion episode of 'Friends' and we're afraid it's bad news.
"It will never happen," Kauffmann said "but no one tends to believe me. It shouldn't happen. That show is about a time in your life when your friends are your family. Once you start having a family, that time of your life is over."
Crane continued by saying: "We finished the show exactly the way we wanted to finish it. To revisit those characters just seems like a bad idea — you don't want to see them hanging out in the coffeehouse now. And the good news is, you can see them whenever you want to. The show lives on with amazing vitality."
The pair however still have plenty of love for the show, they just know where the line is. "It's kind of like someone saying, "You raised a great child."" Kauffmann said when asked if the pair ever get tired of people asking about the show. "Why would that not be a wonderful thing to hear over and over again?", with Crane adding "We're just not letting the kid go to any reunions."
So there you have it. The only chance you'll ever see the gang gathered on the same couch is probably to celebrate each other or Crane and Kauffmann but the characters that we know have officially sailed off into the sunset.
