Following the very sad and unexpected passing of James Gandolfini today, Sky Atlantic have confirmed they will air a special tribute to the actor tomorrow Friday 20th June.
Director of Sky Atlantic confirmed that the channel will show four of Gandolfini's classic episodes of the HBO drama 'The Sopranos' across the night. The four which have been chosen are the original pilot, 'College' from season one, 'Funhouse' from season two and 'Whitecaps' from season four.
It was the role of Tony Soprano that saw the actor get his big break and will be the role he is most remembered for. The show, which has recently been named as one of the best written TV shows, earned Gandolfini three Emmy awards for his brilliant performance as the Mafia boss.
Tributes have been pouring in for the star since the news broke, Edie Falco who played Tony's wife said 'I am shocked and devastated by Jim's passing. He was a man of tremendous depth and sensitivity, with a kindness and generosity beyond words. I consider myself very lucky to have spent 10 years as his close colleague. My heart goes out to his family. As those of us in his pretend one hold on to the memories of our intense and beautiful time together. The love between Tony and Carmela was one of the greatest I've ever known.'
Here are just some of his best bits.
