The new presenter of NBC's late night show Seth Meyers has been named as host of the 2014 Emmy Awards. Pretty fitting choice considering the man himself has bagged three of the awards in the past for his work on Saturday Night Live. He will be taking over the job from Neil Patrick Harris who hosted the event last year, while Jimmy Kimmel took on the gig the year previous.
The awards themselves honour the best of the best in the TV world and are the equivalent of the Academy Awards for film, the Grammy's for music and the Tony's for theatre. NBC's Paul Telegdy, president of late-night and alternative programming, in a statement said; "Seth's expertise and ease in front of a live audience during his time at 'SNL,' as well as his comedic brilliance both as a writer and in front of the camera on 'SNL' and 'Late Night,' makes him the perfect choice to host the Emmys."
The awards will take place on August 25th, so a while away yet. Plenty of time for Seth to get working on some good opening numbers and get the one-liners together. Sure no better man!
