If you haven't seen Soupy Norman, you don't know what you're missing, as it is hands down (in our humble opinion) one of the best and most underappreciated things that RTE has ever commissioned.
The 9-part series of 10 minute episodes originally ran on the station in 2007, and overdubs Polish soap opera Pierwsza milosc (First Love) with a surreal (yet downright hilarious) storyline about a young girl from Cork moving up to Dublin. Some of the comedians voicing the characters included Tara Flynn, Mario Rosenstock and Sue Murphy, while the show was written and edited by Barry Murphy and Mark O'Doherty.
The good news is that a screening of Soupy Norman dubbed 'I Can't Believe You Haven't Seen… Soupy Norman' will take place at Dublin's Sugar Club on Sunday, December 13th. The whole series will be screened, while Murphy and O'Doherty will be in attendance on the night.
Tickets are available via this link, and all proceeds will go to the Peter McVerry Trust.
And really, if you haven't seen it yet, at least familiarise yourself with the first episode below:
