The chilling white ghost mask that terrified a generation is back, and this time in a TV series for MTV - to hopefully put the shits up an entire new generation. Oh no, wait, does this mean we are going to start seeing Scream Halloween costumes everywhere again?
News of the television adaptation was announced last year, but all has been relatively quiet on it since. Now however, new details have emerged about the TV pilot and casting has begun according to TVLine.
There will be no Sidney in this one though it seems, with a whole different range of characters being used by the names of Harper Duval, Audrey Jesen, Noah Foster and Maggie Duval.
Harper is a relatively shy but popular 16 year old girl who has Gilmore Girls-esque relationship with mom Maggie, the town's medical examiner. Audrey and Harper were once very close, but have recently drifted apart. While Noah is Audrey's closest confidante and also "creative, brilliant and tech-savvy enough to be the next Steve Jobs.”
The pilot, written by Jill Blotevogel, will kick off with a YouTube video that goes viral which will be the catalyst for a string of murders in their quiet town with its troubled past.
It's unknown as of yet if any of the original characters from the movie will be making an appearance in the series, but we can only HOPE Deputy Dewey will be stopping by at some stage.
