It's all right 'cause I'm saved by the beeeell....
For many of us that late 80s-early 90s jingle was a core part of our weekend TV binging. And now 'Saved by the Bell' is back after rumours of a reboot were circulating last week.
It's all thanks to NBCUniversal's newly named streaming service, Peacock. They're teaming up with Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley - who respectively played A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano on the show - for a sequel to the show.
Mark-Paul Gosselaar, who played Zack Morris on the series, might be back too.
According to THR, Zack is now Governor of California and in hot water - when is he not? - for closing too many low-income high schools. His plan? To send the affected students to the highest-performing schools in the state — including Bayside High.
According to sources, Lopez and Berkley return as Slater and Jessie, who are now parents.
Tracey Wigfield - whose credits include '30 Rock', 'Great News' and 'The Mindy Project' - is writing the comedy.
'Saved by the Bell' ran for four seasons from 1989 to 1993. After that came the short-lived spin-off series 'Saved by the Bell: The College Years ' and seven-season long 'Saved by the Bell: The New Class'. A feature film, 'Saved by the Bell: Wedding in Las Vegas', capped the whole thing off in which Zack married long-time love interest Kelly Kapowski (Tiffani Thiessen).
No word on whether Thiessen is back or on a return for Dustin Diamond (Screech) or Lark Voorhies (Lisa Turtle).
Thiessen and Gosselaar did get together with Lopez and Berkley back in April so could there have been a discussion of them joining the series back then?
We'll have to wait and see but it would be AWESOME.
